Human History

January 1910-September 1922:

Daphne was born in Smyrne by a family of rich Greek merchants back in January of 1910.

As a child she had a very happy life. Her father used to homeschool her, giving emphasis in Maths and economics, as he was preparing her to take over his business. He also taught her the importance of  communicating with people from different countries, languages and regions, to respect the diversity of each person and to be able to adapt to the different cultures. Her mother on the other hand,  was giving her lessons on how to become a respectable lady for the era and a good housewife should she choose to.

September 1922. -January 1926

On Late August to September 1922 Smyrne was invaded by the Ottoman forces and burnt to the ground. Most of the Greeks were slaughtered or burnt during that time and those that survived, swarmed in the port and fled to Greece. Daphne was among with those that escaped, along with her younger sister, but she has never seen her parents make it through. She was given in a foster family in Athens, Greece, were she lasted barely 4 years to the age of 16. The family there treated her more like a servant than a daughter, and she often resorted to stealing food to make it through the night. At the age of 16, she felt old enough to leave them, start a life of her own the way her parents taught her to, and to find her younger sister.

January 1926- April 1932

Daphne had left her home, and any home for good. She initially stayed in Athens for 2 years, learning how to survive on her own. She quickly resorted to pickpocketing at first, and breaking into stores later to find food, clothes, and to be able to afford a place to spend the night. As soon as she felt confident with her skills, she left and travelled from city to city, searching the refugee camps and homes that hosted children to find her sister.

She heard a rumor about several immigrants that had fled Greece to Germany to find better luck there. So she travelled over to Berlin.

It was a warm night of April 1932  when she entered that cabaret in Berlin to find someone and acquire information. She flirted with the guy and tried to get him drunk, as he seemed to know. What he gave her instead was the kiss of death, and the following night she woke up as a vampire.
